Jordan Turner – Artist in British Columbia
Urban & Environmental Artist – Fraser Valley, British Columbia

About the Artist: Jordan Turner
Jordan Turner is a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator living and working in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. His practice spans painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, tattoo, video, and installation. Turner’s work investigates the transience of the human experience and the effects of unchecked growth—how one generation overlays the next, transforming both natural and human environments.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and History from the University of the Fraser Valley (2007) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia (2010). He currently teaches fine arts at W.J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford, where he mentors students in both traditional and experimental media.
Turner is also one of five co-founders of Civil Radio 101.7 FM, the University of the Fraser Valley’s campus and community radio station, where he helped design the station layout and served on its first programming board.
Unsettled Ink & Wood: Solo Exhibition
Dates: April 5 – May 24, 2025
Location: Capulet Art Gallery, Richmond, BC
In his solo exhibition Unsettled, Turner examined Canada’s colonial history and its ongoing effects through multimedia works incorporating settler iconography, contemporary landscapes, and industrial motifs. The series was inspired by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the poetry of Kamo-no-Chomei, and the artist’s own ambivalence about his settler identity. Turner writes:
“As a Caucasian Canadian-born person, I am of it, and not above it.”
He represents this discomfort through imagery such as in-progress construction sites, powerlines, hammerhead cranes, and oil derrick pumps.
The exhibition included oil paintings like Lost and Found, the video installation Up Over Through, and plans for a sculpture of three hand-built canoes assembled to resemble a snowdrop flower.
Featured Sub-Series within Unsettled:
